You never learn by heart at school? Forgot? I, and to this day I can still annoy my family with "No man is an island! Memorization is not the most important skill, but can be fun. Choose a poem or a script, and try it for yourself.
The recording of which I speak is not the memorization of names, places and events. This type of storage yields very little education of a child because it is divorced from the meaningand importance in the minds of students. As you have probably had in your adult life, something to memory is not enough without the emotional commitment to the rule.
When we started, I did not think the store owner was so important, so I put my eye rather low. I started with the decision that my children would just read the same piece every weekday for three weeks. I did not mean that the goal of saving at all, I was just looking for an "open ear" for the goodLiterature. What I found really surprised me! About two weeks into this process, I discovered that the boy had learned a lot from the passage by heart. With three weeks were able to say by heart! Later in our home schooling, could much of the Bible by heart, simply by reading aloud to me every day. I was amazed - I did not know the human brain worked like that! Now that I am older, some of the storage is faded, but the appreciation of good literature andAbility to identify, it has helped enormously in their university studies.
Try to believe that it is fun for the school's home!
